thats the facts what we call punk now is just a mix of a lot of diff styles
inless you are listening to underground stuff you aint gonna find it on the radio or in hot topic

First time post. I know this is old, but i came on here to look for some EC torrents/concert recordings. This has always been a discussion for debate. generally speaking, EC is considered mostly "New Wave" though his anger and cynicism in his lyrics and snotty vocal delivery pretty much scream "punk", so it's a matter of preference.

And the fact, that his punk-like outlook has been so blurred over the years, is because he explored so many different genres over the years from Jazz, to Classical and established himself as a solid singer-songwriter, rather than just some obscure "new wave/punk" artist. He may not sound like "7 Seconds" or "Minor Threat". But, honestly, i think doing whatever the hell you want musically/artistically and speaking the truth through your lyrics is really what "punk" is all about.
